Anodizing, or anodising is a technique used to modify the surface of a material. Anodized to be known as artificial protection layer that is generated on the aluminum through the protective oxide of aluminum, called alumina. This layer is achieved by means of electrochemical processes, so that it achieves greater strength and durability of aluminum.
These procedures get the surface oxidation of aluminum, creating a protective layer of alumina for the rest of the piece. The protection of aluminum depends largely on the thickness of this layer (in microns).
These carabiners have an anodized aluminum surface, which may have different colors. The process name from the fact that the part to deal with this material makes the anode in the electrical circuit of the electrolytic process. Anodizing is often used to protect aluminum and titanium from abrasion, corrosion, and to be tinted in a wide variety of colors.
Anodizing techniques have evolved greatly over time and competition in the markets so we spent a layer of aluminum oxide with the gray color of this oxide itself to post-training color layer color until such as gold, bronze, black and red. The latest techniques based on optical interference processes can provide finishes such as blue, pearl gray and green. There are different methods of staining of the oxide layers formed: salt-color and color tints the first option being the most common and the most quality finish and durability guaranteed. |
