The present invention relates to a metallic glass and alos ion bombardment methods to manufacture them. More particularly, this invention relates to sputter metallic glass, capable of being heat treated, exhibiting high transmittance of visible light and some special methods to make such glasses. The glasses have about 76% or more visible transmittance, a hemispherical emissivity (eh) of about 0.16 or less and a normal emissivity (in) of about 0.121 or less. The coating includes a lower and an upper layer of Si3N4, a layer of silver, and two layers of nickel or nickel-chromium on opposite sides of the silver layer, having the lower layer based on a nickel thickness to about three times that of the other nickel-based layer
